LERA national comes to Baltimore

Maryland LERA partnered with LERA national to host the LERA 71st Annual Meeting, June 2018, in Baltimore. The chapter arranged for many one-of-a-kind experiences significant to the region for conference-goers to enjoy. The special events included a Maryland crab feast at Nick’s Fish House with a reggae band, and a spectacular welcome reception at Baltimore’s National Aquarium. A pre-game party and baseball game at the Orioles park at Camden Yards was enjoyed by a large group. There were also two walking tours to to choose from: one to learn about the 1877 RailRoad Strike which ended at the Irish RailRoad Workers Shrine facilitated by Bill Barry, and another about the labor history of the Fells Point area facilitated by Shawn Gladden.

A star is born

The Labor and Employment Relations Association annually recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of local LERA chapters with three levels of LERA Chapter Awards including Chapter Merit Awards, Outstanding Chapter Awards, and Chapter Star Awards.

Maryland LERA was awarded the most prestigious LERA Chapter Award in 2018 for its significant contributions in the areas of Outstanding Programming, Member Innovation, Community Involvement, Chapters Helping Chapters, Chapter Communications, Chapter to National Relations.
