Program

Come listen to Jessica Caggiano speak on the topic of Wage Equity: Women’s Economic Rights in the Work Place. Jessica will discuss the effect of laws intended to promote and protect wage equality between the sexes and the factors that perpetuate wage disparity, as well as the challenges of addressing wage inequity more broadly. Her discussion will focus on recent examples in the news involving the economic rights of professional female athletes in the United States; specifically, the United States Women’s National Soccer Team equal pay lawsuit, the NWSLPA’s fight for better pay in their first collective bargaining agreement, and wage disparity issues raised by the United States’ Women’s National Hockey Team in recent years.

Speaker

Jessica Caggiano, Esquire

Jessica Caggiano is a partner at the law firm of Willig, Williams and Davidson. She is a union-side labor lawyer focused on workers’ rights. Jessica has received accolades for her work as an advisor and an advocate for unions and the workers they represent in contract negotiations and bargaining, the grievance and arbitration process, before state and federal administrative agencies, and in labor litigation. Prior to working for WWD, Jessica was in-house counsel at the New York State Public Employees Federation and an Associate Staff Counsel at the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Her clients include unions representing bargaining units comprised of both private and public-sector workers, including, most recently, the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (“NWSLPA”). As labor counsel to NWSLPA, Jessica was a part of the team that negotiated the first ever collective bargaining agreement for a U.S. professional women’s soccer league in the United States.
