Employment Law Update

Cal/OSHA’s Workplace Violence Prevention Plan

Cal/OSHA’s Workplace Violence Prevention Plan requirement will take effect July 1, 2024 for most employers in California. This panel discussion will focus on the latest issues of this emerging obligation for employers, with specific roles for employees and their unions to provide input and develop the plans. The panelists will review the history of SB 553 and what went into passing the legislation, provide an overview of the new Labor Code requirements, discuss issues employers are facing in implementing workplace violence prevention plans, provide front-line experience of workplace violence cases from staff attorneys at Cal/OSHA, and include a question and answer session at the conclusion for the panelists to opine on the audience’s questions. The panel features top professionals in their field from management, union advocacy, and Cal/OSHA.
