RU LERA is an award-winning non-profit organization that was founded in the Fall of 2014. We are the first student-run chapter in the nation that has a direct affiliation to LERA (Labor and Employment Relations Association), the official organization for Labor Relations. We are the leaders of today and the emerging leaders in our field who are ingrained within a diverse community of individuals. As we pave the way for other student chapters to form across the nation, we invite you to join us on our journey and to take advantage of this opportunity that no other university in the country offers its students.
Our Mission Statement
We are RU LERA, comprised of a student body, focused on the development of labor practices through education and establishing networking opportunities for our members and working professionals.
We aim to provide workshops and events that promote the engagement of labor topics, research, legal matters and exchanges regarding people and the workplace.
About Us: Who Are We and What Do We Do?
Rutgers University Labor and Employment Relations Association (RU LERA) is a professional non-profit and an organizing chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association.
RU LERA is an academic, professional, and social organization established in the Fall of 2014. Our goal is to provide an environment that allows students to gain skills that are adaptable post-graduation, broaden their perspectives, take advantage of networking opportunities, and develop personal growth in the fields of academics and relationships.
RU LERA is led by students for the enrichment of students.
Because RU LERA is a non-profit organization, members are required to submit annual dues to ensure the maintenance of quality events and workshops throughout the year. For only $25, members gain full access to all of our events and workshops without paying any additional fees. For complete information, email RULERAinfo@gmail.com.
The 50-member chapter holds three dinner meetings a year.
The Labor and Employment Relations Association is a singular organization of professionals interested in industrial relations and employment relations. All LERA chapter members have been granted affiliate status of the national organization, and receive benefits such as national LERA eNewsletters and access to online LERA publications. LERA was founded in 1947 as the IRRA (Industrial Relations Research Association), but changed our name in 2005.
RU LERA has been affiliated with national LERA since 2017.
