Oregon LERA is pleased to present a program on the process of finding common ground regarding the costing of proposals in contract negotiations and discussing ideas for sharing information and data during the process of bargaining. This is not a costing “how to” workshop, but rather reflections on process – examples of how parties can work together to arrive at costing methodologies that help parties get to an agreement rather than drive them further apart.  We’ll focus on how both parties compare data and come to a shared understanding of their calculations that result in productive conversations at the bargaining table.

Our facilitator for this program will be State Conciliator Janet Gilman bringing her vast experience from her many years with the Oregon Employment Relations Board.  Also on our panel is Kyle Arnone, the Director of American Federation of Teacher’s Center for Collective Bargaining.  He will be sharing his experience assisting AFT bargaining teams around the country reviewing costing data at the bargaining table in a straightforward and transparent way.  We will also have panelists from the City of Portland Labor Relations, the Portland Fire Fighters Association(PFFA), and Portland State University Administration and the American Association of University Professors at PSU (PSU-AAUP).  All had recent success costing proposals and sharing data at the bargaining table and they will be sharing their best practices.  Please join us for an enlightening and thought-provoking lunchtime presentation.  We hope you can join us.

A virtual link for the event and any written materials will be emailed to all attendees prior to the morning of the event.
