Congratulations to Elizabeth Gao, our most most recent scholarship award winner! Gao is is working on a double major in sociology, and in law, societies, and justice at the University of Washington.
A senior community organizer for the Chinese Progressive Association in San Francisco wrote in support of Gao that she is a “grounded, introspective, genuine, and courageous leader and activist.”
Much of Gao’s community work has focused on social and racial justice, and gaining mental health resources for youth. In summer 2020, Gao was a Seeding Change Eva Lowe Fellow–a national program for growing alliances and positive social movement within the Asian American community at a grassroots level to improve lives for low-income families, immigrants, and people of color.
