COVID-19, Workplace Conditions, and Arbitration – Speaker: Rick Bales, Esq.
The Greater Houston LERA Chapter and the Southwest Rockies Region of NAA are jointly presenting a virtual program Thursday, May 26, 2022, 12:00 PM Central time. There is no cost for this program, however, you will need to register at the Greater Houston LERA website listed below. We have applied for MCLE credits for Texas Attorneys. The Zoom Link and additional details will be provided prior to the meeting to those who have registered.
This month’s program was originally planned for the February 2022 SW Rockies Region of NAA conference in Houston, Texas which was cancelled. Because of conflicts we have had to change a few participants, however, the program will be presented in its entirety (about 1 hour and 20 minutes).
The COVID-19 pandemic has quickly and dramatically changed working conditions, with employers responding with quarantines, COVID policies, discipline for policy violations and more. Unions have challenged many employer actions, filing grievances that have led to arbitration hearings. Law school professor and arbitrator Rick Bales presents the findings and implications of his survey of COVID-related arbitration awards. A panel of Union (Mycah Vaughn) and Employer (A. John Harper) representatives will comment on Rick’s findings.
