speaking on

Building Workers’ Power –Transforming the Rules and Creating a More Just Global Economy

You are invited to join our lunchtime discussion to hear Cathy Feingold talk about how unions in the US and around the world are demanding new rules for a changing global economy –rules that will support the growth of unions, the collective power of workers, and a more just and inclusive global community. The current economic structure is failing working people. It has increased precarious work while attacking worker rights. Powerful corporations increasingly control agendas in political parties and government, which results in policies that ignore the needs and well-being of workers and their families.

Our speaker, Cathy Feingold, will focus on how unions are responding to these attacks with fresh strategies based on innovative social contracts designed to hold corporations and governments accountable. Cathy is a leading advocate on global workers’ rights. As director of the AFL-CIO’s International Department, Cathy is a committed and passionate advocate, strategic campaigner and policy expert. In 2018, for example, she was elected Deputy President of the International Trade Union Confederation, the organization representing 200 million unionized workers worldwide. Her success in these assignments derives from more than 20 years of experience in global trade and economic policy. Her work at both global and grassroots levels reflects her commitment to strengthening the voice of workers in global policy debates. And she continues to be a strong advocate for gender equity and rights of working women. Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree from Pitzer College and an M.P.A. from Columbia University. Please join us for what promises to be an insightful discussion of the critical battle for worker rights.
