The Alabama Chapter-LERA, chartered in 1985, brings together labor, management, academics, government, advocates and third party neutrals. The Chapter holds four meetings a year and a two-day Fall Conference. There is a dinner meeting in the fall in Birmingham , an annual Alabama legislative update in Montgomery during the spring legislative session, a luncheon meeting in Mobile in May, and a luncheon meeting in cooperation with the Huntsville Labor-Management Committee in July. The Fall Conference is held each year at Orange Beach.

The Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA), formerly the IRRA, was founded in 1947 and is the major professional group for anyone interested in labor relations and human resources. LERA members share common interests and contribute their skills and knowledge through meetings, workshops and publications.
